Scott Broughton #97
www.scottbroughton.net Scott Broughton #97

In 2007 Scott and his crew joined Carl's Performance Racing. 2007 will mark the second time the #97 team will be part of a two car team. Scott will be racing mainly at Madison International Speedway with some select race dates at Dells Raceway Park.

Scott started racing in 1989 helping Carl Kortte on his Jefferson Late Model. After a couple of years in the pits he decided to try the other side of the wall. In 1991 Scott bought a street stock from Wayne Whitford and began his driving career. A "Rookie Of The Year" title and a top ten finish in the points started the ball rolling.

The 1992 season produced the first and second feature wins and multiple top five finishes at five different race tracks. A 9th place finish at Jefferson Speedway and a 4th place finish at Madison International Speedway got the sophomore driver noticed.

The '93 and '94 seasons produced more top 10 finishes and a few more feature wins.

In the '95 and '96 seasons Scott drove for the Havil Spoerl Late Model race team at Jefferson Speedway and set fast time multiple times. Scott finished in the top 15 and earned another "Rookie Of The Year" title.

In '97 Scott and Jason Schuler built and tested a new Midwest Truck for the Madison International Speedway's new division. Scott also scored a 2nd place finish at the Lacrosse Fairgrounds Speedway at Oktoberfest.

In 1998 Scott went back to his roots and started a Super Stock/Sportsman team and ran at M.I.S. several times. A fast time and a feature win late in the season set the stage for the next year.

The '99 season started rough with engine problems but turned around with a Track Record, 4 feature wins, and a very close 13 point loss in the championship race.

The 2000 season would prove to be a dream season for the team. 10 feature wins and 17 top 5 finishes sealed a 130 point plus margin win for the track championship at M.I.S. The success in '00 also produced a top 5 Midwest Modified feature finish and landed Scott a Super Late Model ride for the '01 season.

In 2001, Scott raced in almost 40 events around the Midwest and gained the M.I.S. Super Late Model Rookie Of The Year title.

After two top 10 finishes in '02 the team owners dissolved their partnership and parked the race cars. Late in '02 Scott purchased his first Super Late and began a new challenging path on a limited budget.

The '03 and '04 seasons produced two top 25 place finishes in the Wisconsin Challenge Series running against 50 plus well funded teams around the greater state of Wisconsin.

In 05 and 06, Scott raced in the Madison ASA Late Model Division. Scott finsihed 13th in o6 racing aginst some very heavily funded teams and talented drivers.
